Are you interested in using miraDry to end excessive armpit sweating – but not sure what to expect from your procedure?
Consider the mystery solved, because we’ve got the inside scoop on what to expect before and after your miraDry treatments.
What To Do Before Your MiraDry Treatment
About 72 hours before your miraDry treatment, you’ll be asked to shave your armpits; once you do, this should be the last time you shave them until after your procedure.
On the day of your miraDry treatment, your technician will place temporary tattoos on your armpits, which help provide an outline for where the miraDry handpiece should be placed.
After the tattoo has been placed, your doctor will inject some anesthesia (including dilute lidocaine) into your armpits to help keep you comfortable throughout your procedure. Once your underarms are completely numb, the miraDry handpiece will be passed over your armpits, where pulses of radiofrequency energy will ablate the overactive sweat glands.

What to Expect After Your MiraDry Treatment
Immediately after your miraDry treatment, you’ll be provided with ice packs and advised to take ibuprofen to help manage any post-procedure discomfort. You’ll likely notice swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the treatment site for a few days, which is completely normal – that’s a sign your miraDry procedure worked.
There’s zero downtime after your miraDry session, so you can get right back to your normal routine. However, we usually recommend patients take it easy on any physical activities that could increase underarm discomfort, like weight lifting, running, or rowing. Take at least seven days off at the gym to ensure you completely heal after your miraDry procedure.
Most patients only need one miraDry treatment to see a life-changing reduction in excessive underarm sweating!
